THE WALK

A three-mile sponsored walk along the coast was broken up with short inspirational talks and reminders from CEI teachers. Against a back-drop of rugged natural beauty, a dars (lesson) of Surah al-Nas formed the khatam (completion) of the Tafsir of Jus Amma course, previously taught in Crawley.

THEME

Surrounded by rough seas and blue skies, al-Birr wal Taqwa’s melodic voices and rhythmic drums carried the sounds of nasheeds (songs) in praise of God, along with the recitation of Qur’anic verses, among the dramatic cliff-tops of the southern coast, and along a route sadly noted for its association with suicide. Along the route, many passers by joined the programme, including local photographer Duncan Green.

As the sun descended in the sky and the sponsored walk drew to an end, participants enjoyed a barbecue dinner provided by local Crawley restauranteur Roosters, bringing to close a day full of beauty and blessing.
